Odell Beckham Jr. will possibly miss the Giants season opener

Giants likely to play starters into second quarter vs. Browns

ESPN's Jordan Raanan and Dan Graziano reported that sources said Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. could miss the Week 1 matchup September 10 with an ankle injury.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The New York Giants apparently can breathe a little easier. The Giants believe if the healing process proceeds normally, Beckham will be ready for the opener.

X-rays taken on Beckham's sprained right ankle came back negative, and a Tuesday MRI confirmed no significant damage exists, Graziano and Raanan report.

"Odell has an ankle and we'll see how he responds to treatment", McAdoo said. While the Cowboys must prepare to be without their star RB Ezekiel Elliott for the season opener and beyond, their Week 1 opponents appear they may be without their star as well.

"You kind of not want to think about that", cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie said.

McAdoo gave no indications that he would rest either player in the final two preseason games, which is somewhat understandable.

Quarterback Eli Manning needs Beckham fully healthy for the Giants to get back to the postseason and build on their 11-5 record in 2016.

The Giants picked up veteran wideout Brandon Marshall this offseason to add depth around Beckham.

And Beckham was walking around the locker room. "On offense, we definitely need to the work". "We don't have a timetable on it", he said.

"Roger had a great day of practice".

He's got an ankle, Beckham does.

Collins' primary issue was Boddy-Calhoun's decision to go low on a high throw to Beckham, who exited the Giants' 10-6 loss with a sprained ankle.

"No regrets.no", McAdoo said of Beckham returning to the field.
