Trump's personal lawyer forwards email equating Robert E. Lee to George Washington

Trump remarks praised by former KKK leader David Duke

"This week it is Robert E. Lee". "I notice that Stonewall Jackson is coming down".

"He's making false equivalencies when he's trying to say people will start taking down Thomas Jefferson and George Watson because he's comparing it to Founding Fathers, versus people who fought to secede from the thing that the Founding Fathers tried to create", he said. Washington and Jefferson are two of the country's most notable founders, as well as the first and third presidents.

Not so. According to a report in the New York Times, Trump's personal lawyer forwarded an email to a bunch of conservative journalists which basically echoes a shitload of Confederate propaganda and defends the military leaders of the slaveholding state.

The email forwarded by Dowd was titled "The Information that Validates President Trump on Charlottesville" and included lines such as, "You can not be against General Lee and be for General Washington, there literally is no difference between the two men". Was George Washington a slave owner? Because George Washington owned slaves. "Are we going to take down - excuse me - are we going to take down statues [of George Washington]?" "No, define it for me", he challenged reporters. He later claimed the Friday march was organized by "people protesting very quietly the taking down of the statue of Robert E. Lee", but allowed that there was likely "some bad ones" present as well. "He was a major slave owner".

On Tuesday, the President said that "before I make a statement, I like to know the facts". He actually gets very unfair press in that regard.

It doesn't address the fact that numerous marchers at Saturday's rally were marching to protect white America from the scourge of "diversity" (in some cases, with physical disruption and violence), while the counterprotesters were there to oppose those views (in some cases, with physical disruption and violence). Far-right groups involved in organizing and attending the rally included several far-right extremist groups like the Ku Klux Klan and self-proclaimed fascist group, Vanguard America.

Over the weekend, right-wing white supremacist protesters gathered in the Virginia city, bearing tiki torches and in some cases chanting racist slogans.

Scores of participants at the rally carried Confederate flags and Nazi flags, and made references to white supremacy and famous Nazi slogans, like the 14 words.

James has not been quiet about the president or the events in Charlottesville, either.

Due wrote her piece Tuesday, the same day President Donald Trump vented his criticism over those who want to remove monuments of confederate military figures.

I think there is blame on both sides. "That was a disgusting, frightful day". Are we gonna take down statues of George Washington?. you're changing history, you're changing culture.you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists. But I'll say it right now.
