Graceland plays host to Elvis fans from around the world

Elvis' spirit lives on 40 years after death

A super-fan father and daughter duo have organised a party for the city's Elvis Presley fans in celebration and reflection of his death 40 years ago today.

It appears that Elvis fans are keen to get a piece of the King with more than 537,000 searches for items this year alone.

He said: "I spent many years being Elvis but when the smoking ban came into force people stopped going out as much".

Her adult son wore a tan shirt and jeans as well as a blazer and a pair of boots.

Since Presley's death, devotees of the swivel-hipped, smooth talking performer who was born into poverty in Tupelo, Mississippi, and became an global star have been flocking to Memphis for Elvis Week, the annual celebration of his life and career.

Though not typically on the menu, Selena Rosa, 1712 Second Ave., will hand out fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches to fans until supplies run out, according to a news release.

Recently, a tell all book about the Kardashians revealed that after her divorce from Elvis, Priscilla entered a relationship with Robert Kardashian.

Charging $28.75 to join the Candlelight Vigil takes something meaningful away from those fans.

"And yes, an answer to your next question, I'm still kicking myself", said Evans, who now lives in Brownsburg.

Graceland says the almost 30 dollar wristband also provides access to the new entertainment complex that immerses visitors in 42 years of the King's life and music.

Georgann Reynolds, 70, president of the fan club, said the fandom expressed by Galaz and McNeilan is typical of the way in which Elvis' music - a mixture that spoke to blues, country and rock and roll - touched the world. "I just stuck with him, and I've been with Elvis ever since". Presley died on August 16, 1977, in Memphis.

"The Elvis known today is not the real Elvis, but a mythological figure millions can relate to in their own way", says the author of "The Death and Resurrection of Elvis Presley".

"The vigil should be free", said visitor.

His death came in the wake of many years of prescription drug abuse.

But for a diehard music lover with some cash to blow, there's an even more intimate way to commune with The King-you can live like one in his former Beverly Hills mansion for $65,000 a month.

"I just head the voice and it got to me, just something about that voice".
