Iran: Rouhani confirmed for 2nd term in office

Iran President Hassan Rouhani vows to end isolation as he begins his second term

President Trump signed into law legislation that codifies and strengthens sanctions against Russian Federation and expands sanctions against Iran and North Korea.

Rouhani said that his main concern for the next four years would be to improve the economy of the country to promote social justice and eliminate poverty.

Last week, Iran launched an advanced satellite-carrying rocket into space, which was a significant step forward for their space program.

The US agreed the deal with world powers including Russia, Britain, France, China and Germany.

Tehran has officially complained to the U.N. Security Council over the latest US sanctions, Ali Larijani Iran's Parliament Speaker, announced on Tuesday.

"I confirm the vote and appoint you as president of the republic", Khamenei said on August 3 at a ceremony in Tehran that was attended by Iranian officials and foreign dignitaries. "International engagement should not lead to ignoring hostility of the enemies", Khamenei said.

Iran and Zimbabwe enjoy strong bilateral relations which date back to the days of the liberation struggle but these have not blossomed owing to an economic embargo that the Islamic country has been experiencing over the years.

Zarif described the U.S. move as a violation of the nuclear deal's text, and said, "Trump tries to breach the deal with Iran paying the costs, but Europe needs to be alert in this regard".

Acknowledging that hard times lie ahead in pursuing the country's foreign policy, the Iranian president urged for the rationality and objectivity of the state's actions with regards to the outside world while recalling that "the nuclear deal is a sign of Iran's goodwill on the global stage".

He emphasized that the Iranian government and people would react to any breach of the deal. French energy giant Total defied USA pressure in July by signing a multi-billion-dollar gas deal with Iran. Instead, among other things, the Act imposes mandatory sanctions on parties determined to have materially contributed to Iran's ballistic missile program or to certain arms sales or transfers involving Iran.

It would also apply terrorism sanctions to Iran's prestigious Revolutionary Guard and enforce an arms embargo.
