Secret Service Moves Out of Trump Tower Due to Lease Dispute

Anyway, Donald Trump's apartment at Trump Tower in Manhattan is still technically his permanent home, and the Secret Service must protect it as such.

"For reasons that involve operational security and matters of force protection, the Secret Service will not disclose the current location of our command post".

Amanda Miller, a spokeswoman for the Trump Organization, did not address that account.

However, according to a few reports in the Post, even though Trump Organization has asked the agency to look elsewhere, the Secret Service is still hoping for a space in Trump Tower. But the Secret Service continues to protect the building.

As an example, there's a worry that radio transmissions could break up if they're sent between Secret Service agents actually outside Trump's residence 50 floors above the street and agents in the trailer.

"Throughout this process, there has been no impact to the security plan developed by the Secret Service", agency spokeswoman Catherine Milhoan told the newspaper.

And in this case, it appears Trump's business wants Trump's agency to give the former more money in order to keep Trump's interests safe.

Trump has not visited Trump Tower since his inauguration, although First Lady Melania Trump and their son Barron continued living there until relocating to Washington, D.C.in June.

Citing two people familiar with the discussions, The Post said the dispute involved multiple elements of the lease, including the price.

"This idea of us having a command post that is not co-located with one of our protectee's residences, that's not something new for us", she added. According to the Trump Organization, the command post migration was a mutual decision.

The federal agency which protects United States presidents has been renting office space in the Midtown Manhattan skyscraper since 2015.

"It was a standard lease negotiation, like any other, and had all of the same parts".

The deal was said to be brokered by Joel Anderson, a businessman who owns the space.

Though it's generally hard to be surprised by Trump-related stories, I'll concede this is an odd one.
