Seattle Seahawks Safety Kam Chancellor Signs Three Year Extension

Strong safety Kam Chancellor and Seahawks agree to contract extension

The contract includes $25 million in guaranteed money and will likely keep Chancellor in a Seahawks uniform until he is age 32.

Chancellor played in 12 games last season for the Seahawks.

On Monday, Chancellor said negotiations on a new deal had been "positive on both ends and hopefully it gets done any time now".

This contract extension comes two years after Chancellor held himself out of training camp and the first two weeks of the regular season due to displeasure about his contract situation.

Two years ago, Kam Chancellor staged a holdout about nothing.

But Chancellor is now signed meaning the team will now turn to its attention over the next year or so to Sherman and safety Earl Thomas, who can each become unrestricted free agents following the 2018 season. It makes Chancellor one of the NFL's highest paid safeties and ties him with Miami's Reshad Jones for annual average among strong safeties specifically.

"I love this team", he said. In addition to these numerous accomplishments, Chancellor was ranked by his peers as the 32nd-best player in the league at the conclusion of the 2015-16 season. "Until the wheels fall off". However long the Lord allows me to. Can't really put a time frame on how long I want to play. However long my body holds up.

He also said he "would love to retire" with the franchise. "It's never up to me". He's recorded 50 or more tackles in five of the last six seasons and has been named to four Pro Bowls. They were torched by Matt Ryan during the NFC Divisional Playoff round and gave up 338 yards and three touchdowns.
