Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek unveiled a highly detailed model of the Star Wars Lands, now under construction at the Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida and the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim. The first detailed model of these projects is being displayed at the 2017 D23 Expo this weekend, run by D23, the official Disney Fan Club, in Anaheim, Calif.
The attraction is under construction at Disneyland in Anaheim and at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Fla.
Featuring new characters created by Motive in close partnership with the story group at Lucasfilm, the Star Wars Battlefront II single player campaign will deliver a new exciting story to the Star Wars universe. The idea of the lands was announced two years ago at the 2015 D23 Expo. The new land is, according to Disney staff, set on a planet "somewhere on the Outer Rim, on the edge of the Unknown Regions".
While Disney doesn't give this new planet and trading port a name, the pictures and video it shared show off a location that at least has a passing resemblance to Mos Eisley spaceport. The presentation is scheduled for 3 p.m. "One that lets guests take the controls of Millennium Falcon on a customized secret mission, and an epic Star Wars adventure that puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance". Are you part of the Resistance or willing to join the First Order?
As The Mercury News reports, park-goers will walk through a landscape and architecture that looks similar to that featured in the Star Wars films.
And in 2019, the "ship that made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs" throws open its bay doors, finally giving fans a chance to step aboard.
