According to multiple reports, the Celtics and Pistons have agreed to swap Avery Bradley and Marcus Morris. Bradley will be looking for a big payday in his next deal, and he could receive offers that are in the $20 million a season range. However, with the recent firing of Phil Jackson, Porzingis is likely to stay in NY for this upcoming season.
"If Cleveland gets (Jamal) Crawford and another player, which they probably will, Boston still is the second best team", said Nelson. The 24-year-old averaged 13.8 points and 3.3 rebounds in 76 games for the Pistons last season.
Avery will become a free agent at the end of next season and it may have been hard to retain both him and All-Star Isaiah Thomas.
There's a lot to like about the way the Celtics roster is taking shape. The Celtics were in a bind - a nice bind after signing Hayward to a $128-million deal - and the Pistons seized a chance to benefit from it.
There are only a few possible moves left, but it seems like Dedmon's skillset would be a big help where the Celtics are weakest. The Pistons announced the trade Friday.
After a whirlwind week that saw Gordon Hayward and Marcus Morris brought in and Kelly Olynyk and Avery Bradley shipped out, Danny Ainge let it be known that the Celtics aren't done. Though he won't be as high of an option in Boston, he may find more room to thrive. He also averaged 18.1 points, 5.6 assists and 4.5 rebounds in 39 playoff appearances.
McRoberts is due to make just over $6 million next season.
Morris is a solid 235 pounds, and though he hasn't been known as a rebounder, he averaged 4.6 rebounds last season playing next to Andre Drummond, one of the most dominant rebounders in the National Basketball Association.
Isaiah Thomas averaged 28.9 points last season, and Al Horford, Jae Crowder and Marcus Smart were all in double figures as well. Smart will likely command less than Bradley, and it is clear that Thomas is now Boston's man after back to back offseasons that saw them acquire Horford and Hayward to create another big three in Beantown. The 6'11 power forward provided some much-needed size to the Celtics who are a small team in general.
By some measures, Morris was the NBA's best defender of LeBron James during the 2015-16 regular season. However, the Celtics are reportedly still gauging the trade market on Crowder, so there could still be moves to be made.
