Doomfist leaps into the sky then comes crashing down dealing significant damage to a large area.
After of mountains of speculation, Blizzard has confirmed that Doomfist will be Overwatch's next hero. Doomfist's other abilities include Hand Cannon, his long-range weapon; Seismic Slam, a punch to the ground that brings enemies closer to him; Rising Uppercut; and Rocket Punch, a high-powered melee.
After months of hints and teases, Blizzard has officially announced Overwatch's 25th hero, Doomfist.
Per the breaking news-like announcement, "Overwatch's" antagonistic faction - Talon - facilitated the escape of a prisoner named Akande Ogundimu who also goes by the moniker Doomfist, according to PVP Live. He is decked with cybernetics and uses a rather formidable looking Hand Cannon for ranged battles, when he's not punching enemies in the face. Since Overwatch is currently in Patch 1.12, with a version of patch 1.13 in the PTR right now, this clearly signaled the imminent arrival of Doomfist.
"After charging up, Doomfist lunges forward and knocks an enemy back, dealing additional damage if they impact a wall".
Blizzard may have dropped the new information as they gear up for a proper Doomfist reveal.
Doomfist's existence has been teased by Blizzard for a while now, and this teaser is the first confirmation that they've made a decision to ramp up Doomfist to a full reveal soon.
It was rumoured that he would be voiced by Terry Crews, as he had been spotted visiting Blizzard and had expressed a desire to play the part, but he was not cast.
Aside from the origin story, more of Doomfist's background is also explained in the Developer Update, also seen below, along with an explanation of his abilities. He is intended as an initiator and flanker, and therefore has a passive ability called The Best Defense, which grants Doomfist a temporary shield when he deals damage with his abilities.
