The Boston Celtics are comfortable in the belief they made a strong pitch to free agentGordon Hayward on Sunday, but now comes the more hard part of the process.
There are plenty of reasons for Hayward to stay in Utah, despite the also obvious allures of teams such as Boston or Miami. Or will he reunite with college coach Brad Stevens and don the Boston Celtics green?
Soon enough however, more people started to report that Hayward to the Celtics was not a done deal just yet.
With Hayward now heading to the Celtics, here's a look at the team's updated roster and starting lineup, which obviously improves quite a bit with him added into the mix.
The 27-year-old Hayward will command a maximum salary after opting out of the final season of his contract.
After spending his first seven seasons with the Utah Jazz, Hayward is on the open market for the first time in his career. Hayward rejected an offer by the Jazz to re-sign with the team and also had offers from the Miami Heat. Last summer, Al Horford made a decision to sign with the Celtics.
Hayward was ranked No. 6 on the list of top available free agents this offseason compiled by ESPN's Kevin Pelton.
