Berger wins at St. Jude Classic for second straight year

Daniel Berger defends Fed Ex St Jude Classic title in Memphis

Berger played a bogey-free round on Sunday, avoiding trouble on a fast, firm course at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tenn.

On a day when Phil Mickelson was tied for the lead until a triple-bogey at the par-four 12th, Berger finished at 10-under 270, joining Dave Hill, Lee Trevino and David Toms as back-to-back winners of an event that started in 1958.

Three dropped shots in the first five holes had him on the backfoot early on, though birdies at eight and nine, plus a level-par back nine saw him card at one-over par round of 71.

PGA EUROPEAN: Dylan Frittelli shot a 5-under-par 67 on Sunday to win the Lyoness Open for his first European Tour title.

He sank birdie putts from about 10 feet away at both the second and sixth, and sank a shorter birdie attempt at the ninth.

He was joined at that mark by Séamus Power who slipped to a one over par round of 71 to finish three under par and seven behind the victor.

South African Charl Schwartzel and Whee Kim of South Korea were a shot behind. He reached 7 under par and tied for the lead with birdies at Nos. He missed the cut in the Players Championship, withdrew from the AT&T Byron Nelson and finished a distant 35th in the Memorial after a final-round 76 last week.

Billy Horschel, Rafa Cabrera Bello, Kevin Chappell, Chez Reavie and amateur Braden Thornberry tied for fourth at 8 under.

They were one stroke in front of overnight co-leader Stewart Cink, who carded a 68 for 132, with Ben Crane, victor of this tournament in Memphis, Tennessee, on 133 after a 65.

"I feel great, I feel like I broke through", she said. Playing out of the penultimate twosome, he mustered six (of 14) fairways and 11 greens in regulation, losing 0.554 strokes tee-to-green and 1.770 on-the-green.

DES MOINES, Iowa - Bernhard Langer is on quite a roll as he tries to become the first in seven years to win three straight PGA Tour Champions events. Perrine Delacour (62) and Lindy Duncan (65) were one shot back.

He dropped three strokes at the 12th and shot a 68, finishing three shots behind Berger.
