Microsoft reveals Dell and Asus Windows Mixed Reality headsets

Corporate vice president of Consumer and Device Sales at Microsoft, Nick Parker spoke about new business models scale and expand markets, creating a thriving ecosystem.

Microsoft delved into key areas of focus that it believes will inspire customers, increase momentum in the PC market with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update and finally stimulate merging categories including Windows Mixed Reality and Azure solutions for the Internet of Things (IoT).

Barlow highlighted some of the new innovations coming in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, which includes updates to Windows Ink, 3D, Windows Mixed Reality, security and gaming. At Computex, the Redmond giant brought on stage a gamut of Windows Mixed Reality headsets developed by its known hardware partners - Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo. Asus, HP, Acer, Dell and Lenovo were present and accounted for at the show and tell.

ASUS which already has Oculus-Ready ROG gaming desktops and VR-Ready VivoPC X is now expanding on its portfolio into the emerging mixed reality category.

Microsoft has already talked about its plans for building an ecosystem of Windows mixed reality (MR) headsets, so it's easier for an average individual to be able to experience AR/VR and escape from real-life scenarios. There are users who need to be connected to the cloud at all times, leveraging the latest network technology like gigabit LTE and eSIM. Always Connected computers are said to be released from multitude of manufacturers, including ASUS, Hp, VAIO, Xiaomi, and the leading PC manufacturer Lenovo. These new devices will feature Windows 10, with always-on LTE connectivity and long battery life.

Each of the devices is set to run custom versions of Windows 10 that Microsoft has been developing for ARM chips.

Asus CEO Jerry Shen said the Snapdragon Mobile PC Platform will mean that users now can take advantage of new always on, always connected experiences available to them.
