The Army convoy, which was on its way to Jammu from Srinagar, was indiscriminately fired upon by terrorists near the Lower Munda toll post.
Hizb-ul-Mujahideen outfit claimed the responsibility for the attack and said that four soldiers were killed and seven others injured. Those injured have been evacuated to a hospital and a hunt is underway to nab the militants. The Jammu-Srinagar national highway also came to a standstill following the firing and it took police a while to clear traffic.
A search operation has been launched to track the militants.
The terrorists, after opening fire on the Army convoy, fled away from the spot, the Army said. At least, one civilian was injured, the officials said adding that the Army has retaliated to the Pakistani firing.
As per the agency that attack was carried out by terrorists in Anantnag's Qazigund.
Six soldiers travelling in the vehicle were injured.
In another incident, Pakistani troops violated ceasefire since Friday night along the Poonch LoC.
Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti paid rich tributes to the two army men who were killed in the attack.
During his three-day stay in Srinagar, army chief held talks with army commanders and reviewed the security situation in the State.
