The FBI just declined the House Oversight Committee's request for Comey's memos

"Congress does not conduct criminal or counterintelligence investigations; rather Congress's power of inquiry is rooted in part in its duty to oversee the Executive Branch's faithful enforcement of the laws that Congress enacted", Chairman Jason ChaffetzJason ChaffetzChaffetz doubles down on request for FBI memos Chaffetz on leaving Congress: "At some point, you've got to get off this insane train" Feinstein: Comey memos "going to be turned over" MORE (R-Utah) wrote in a letter to acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe. In the July 5 hearing, Comey did say that while Clinton was secretary of state, she had been "extremely careless" when she set up a private email server in her home in NY. His press conference caused a firestorm of controversy and drew criticism from both Democrats and Republicans.

The Washington Post reports that the FBI is investigating meetings that President Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, had in December with Russian officials.

President Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, is willing to cooperate with federal investigators looking into ties between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign, his attorney said Thursday.

Now, CNN is reporting that Comey knew that the document was a fake.

Comey is expected to testify before the Senate intelligence committee after Memorial Day.

The Russian intelligence at issue purported to show that then-Attorney General Lynch had been compromised in the Clinton investigation. Trump fired Comey May 9 amid questions about the FBI's investigation.

Still, Comey did not let on to lawmakers that there were doubts about the veracity of the intelligence, according to sources familiar with the briefings.

The report noted Comey himself brought up those emails months ago in closed-door briefings with Congress and expressed fear that, if made public, they could undermine the public's faith in the outcome of the investigation and the independence of the DOJ.

Multiple US officials tell CNN that to this day Russian Federation is trying to spread false information in the US - through elected officials and American intelligence and law enforcement operatives - in order to cloud and confuse ongoing investigations.
