Britain says some of Manchester bomber's network potentially still at large

Manchester

Manchester City Council's executive member for culture and leisure, councillor Luthfur Rahman, said earlier this week: "Manchester is a truly resilient city and we look forward to successfully hosting these great sporting events, with the support of Greater Manchester Police".

While police in Libya have detained the father and brother of 22-year-old bomber Salman Abedi.

Greater Manchester Police, which has released the images, has not revealed where they were taken or at what stage of the evening.

The attack, which has been claimed by the Islamic State jihadist group, targeted young fans at the end of a concert by U.S. teen pop idol Ariana Grande.

Ariana Grande has vowed to return to Manchester to hold a benefit concert which will raise funds for the victims of the terror attack at her show in the city. Thirteen men are now in custody after a man and a woman were released without charge.

They issued a photograph of Abedi taken on Monday night before he blew himself up killing 22 people and said they believed he had assembled his bomb in an apartment in the city centre.

Abedi died in the blast.

At least 17 raids have been carried out across the country since Monday's attack, according to Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley, Britain's senior police officer for counterterrorism.

British authorities are racing to round up the terror network behind the Manchester concert bombing after Home Secretary Amber Rudd revealed some of those involved could "potentially" still be at large.

"Our response to this violence must be to come closer together, to help each other, to love more, to sing louder and to live more kindly and generously than we did before".

Fresh arrests have been made connected to the Manchester suicide attack as police continue to hunt down Salman Abedi's suspected accomplices. The straps of a backpack are visible on his shoulders.

"Our confidence has been increasing over recent days but there's still more to do to get to the degree of confidence we want".

Greater Manchester Police chief Ian Hopkins and Neil Basu, the national coordinator of counterterrorism policing, urged people to contact police if they had information about Abedi's movements between May 18 and Monday night. What Fox News has yet to report is that hundreds of Muslims in Manchester have marched against the attack, condemning terrorism, and expressing solidarity with the victims.

Britain on Saturday reduced its terror threat level from critical - its highest level - to severe.

When asked how many potential militants the government was concerned about, Rudd said Britain's security services were tracking 500 different potential plots, involving 3,000 people as a "top list", with a further 20,000 beneath that.

The band said its "thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of those affected and all the people of Manchester at this hard time".
