IOC Evaluation Commission arrives in Paris for a three-day inspection

His fellow co-chair Bernard Lapasset would be Honorary President of the Organising Committee.

French President-elect Emmanuel Macron showed his absolute support for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic bid in a talk with International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach.

Moreover, according to Committee Chair Baumann, "Los Angeles is already a great Olympic city but after these three days, we realize that was a great understatement".

The three-day commission inspection began on May 14 with opening remarks from commission chairman Patrick Baumann and Paris 2024's bid leaders.

"Paris is a special city and everybody in this commission has a special attachment with this city".

"They are two outstanding cities, each with its typical aspects", the Swiss said. The delegation just wrapped up their four-day visit to Los Angeles before arriving in Paris.

Masseglia was re-elected for a third term last Thursday (May 11) but it is strongly rumoured that he would step down in favour of Estanguet following the end of the Paris 2024 bid.

The host city will be released at the IOC's session in Lima, Peru on September 13.

"The people, the city and the whole of France are fully supportive of our bid which offers a Games of real passion and objective for 2024".

"They are two big cities, they are two Olympic cities".

"They have been impressed by the quality of the landmarks and the iconic venues that we offer". "There is a strong Olympic spirit in both cities".

"It is nearly impossible to go under 10 out of 10 [for both Paris and LA]".

"With financial and political stability and support, we are ready right now", Hidalgo said.

Representatives from the city of Paris and the Paris bid, athletes and entrepreneurs were involved in three separate media briefings to illustrate the positive impact that the Olympic Games would have on the city.

It is not yet clear whether the 39-year-old Macron, who took over from Francois Hollande, another supporter of the Paris bid, would meet the International Olympic Committee commission at their hotel near the Eiffel Tower or at the Elysee Palace.

The commission inspection continues tomorrow with a full day of venue tours throughout the city.

Estanguet is also now the favourite to replace Angela Ruggiero as chair of the IOC Athletes' Commission after her term ends next February.

"We are going to meet the president of the Republic on Tuesday morning".
