HTC unveils new flagship U11 smartphone

The device will come with inbuilt Google Assistant in some regions and in some other markets it will also feature Amazon Alexa.

In China, it will use Baidu's voice assistant, DuerOS. The Alexa voice assistant will only be hitting US, UK and Germany for now.

On the front of the new HTC U 11 we have a 16 megapixel camera which has been designed for Selfies and it comes with a range of Selfie features, like Selfie Panorama mode and more.

"Instead, the first two U-series phones were meant to introduce the sleek, glossy glass design that will permeate the rest of the company's product line soon enough", says Engadget.

Its Liquid Surface design mimics waters reflection.

The U11 will arrive in United Kingdom later this year in five funky colours including Amazing Silver • Solar Red • Brilliant Black and Ice white.

For the important specifics, the device sports a 5.5-inch screen with a Quad HD SuperLCD 5 display. There's also the usual array of NFC, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi support as well as a fingerprint sensor, light sensor, proximity sensor, magnetic sensor, and gyroscope.

As for the specifications, the HTC U11 is powered by the latest Snapdragon 835 chipset.

HTC U11 is expected to run on Andriod Nougat 7.1.1 out-of-the-box.

The HTC U11 is the third device that the Taiwanese company has released this year, coming after the HTC U Play and HTC U Ultra that were released earlier this year.

Of course, the new HTC U11 will not be complete without new optics. At the back you get a 12 MP UltraPixel 3-branded camera offering a 1.4 micron pixel size, f/1.7 aperture, optical image stabilization and a dual-LED flash. The latter sees data from the previous and next frames being used to deliver better quality video.

The HTC U11 will also pack four microphones to allow for 3D recording, even allowing you to zoom into the video and have the sound follow as well.

Where other phone makers are experimenting with new screen shapes, multiple cameras, or other unique features, HTC is largely staying conservative with the U11. Pricing is on-par with other flagship smartphones, at $29 per month for 24 months ($696 total). The handset is Hi-Res Audio certified, and comes with HTC's BoomSound Hi-Fi Edition which makes the earpiece acts as one speaker, set up as a tweeter, while the speaker on the bottom takes care of the bass.

HTC is said to ditch the 3.5mm headset jack in U 11, which will come with USB Type-C for charging as well as audio output.
