Golden State Warriors Beat Utah Jazz, Advance To Western Conference Finals

Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

Golden State moves on to the Western Conference Finals behind phenomenal play from their all-stars.

The Warriors looked like they wanted to get the sweep on early by running out to a 24-point lead in the second quarter. Still, Utah had just 10 bench points. In the 2nd half, Gordon Hayward caught fire along with Shelvin Mack.

For a while, it appeared that Utah could finally solve the offensive puzzle that Golden State creates for opposing defenses. They cover for each other so well.

THREE THINGS TO WATCH: THE START: The Warriors would like to recreate the incredible way they opened Game 4 in their first-round series at Portland. In fact, they have the potential to be a great team in the future.

"We have multiple defenders that can guard multiple positions", Durant said. We've gotten better as the playoffs have gone on. It would be nice if the NBA Playoffs could deliver more lengthy series where the top teams are challenged in classic games... but my guess is if we do get another Warriors-Cavs epic then nobody will be complaining.

Both Golden State and Cleveland have seen their offenses firing on all cylinders and are #1 and #2 in PPG and FG percentage thus far in the postseason. Lowry averaged career bests of 22.4 points, 7.0 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game this season. The Warriors are just too good and the Jazz aren't there yet. Thompson has been in a bit of a slump and was 1 for 9 Saturday. Unfortunately, the Warriors were able to turn the heat back up and push this thing to the end in the second half. They did not commit a turnover after halftime and finished with seven overall. He, Thompson and Green combined for 29 points in that first 12 minutes.

INJURY UPDATE: Warriors coach Steve Kerr remains out indefinitely after having a spinal cord leak procedure to help alleviate complications from back surgery about two years ago. Due to the loss of point guard George Hill, who suffered a toe injury in Game 1, Utah has struggled to find a playmaker with the IUPUI product's facilitating skill. Rodney Hood is listed as probable for Game 4 for Utah.

Cavaliers: Cleveland has swept its opponent all nine times it has taken a 3-0 series lead. Hayward and Gobert have played well the past two games, but Joe Johnson and Joe Ingles have regressed from a strong first round against the Los Angeles Clippers.
