In Scotland's fourth city, Dundee, the SNP lost its overall majority, but remains the largest party. It was the first ever win for the Tories in the area.
MSP Douglas Ross is the Tory candidate in Moray, and Ms Davidson said there is "a real titanic battle" between him and Mr Robertson for the seat.
She said: "Labour have run Glasgow for a long time so ousting them and putting in place a new city government is not going to be easy, but it's what we're focused on doing".
The SNP becomes the largest party there, as in Edinburgh and Aberdeen where it also deposed Labour, but it lacks a commanding majority in all three.
Speaking about the election contest in Moray, Ms Davidson said: "There is a real titanic battle up there".
James Dornan, an SNP MSP for Glasgow Cathcart, said: "Clearly the early results show it's going to be hard for us to be in a majority but we always knew that, but hopefully at the end of the day the SNP will be the majority party in Glasgow".
She added: "Wherever you are, from the Borders to the Highlands, the only party strong enough to lead that fightback against the SNP is the Scottish Conservatives".
"We've seen here today that the Scottish Conservatives are leading the fightback against the SNP, and that's not just in rural areas or areas where we've traditionally been strong but that's in urban areas too".
"So when it comes to the General Election we want to reinforce this trend - after all there is one thing absolutely desperately needed in this country, a real opposition to Theresa May and the Conservative Party and the SNP in Scotland intend to provide it".
Labour's former council leader Frank McAveety, who retained his seat in Shettleston, said: "The SNP predicted they could return 56 councillors, they've only returned 39 councillors".
Labour has lost control of Glasgow for the first time in almost 40 years.
Labour lost four of its representatives on the authority, with eight councillors elected.
