Trump campaign says CNN refuses to run ad touting success

The 30-second television advertisement released on Monday was the latest example of Trump's extraordinarily early return to politicking at a time when most Presidents would be spending their time pushing through their highest legislative priorities, The News York Times reported.

"You wouldn't know it from watching the news", says the ad. "America is winning".

CNN said Tuesday that is refusing to air a campaign ad from President Trump because the spot refers to the media as "fake news".

Within moments after Trump's team criticized CNN's decision, the network responded in a statement that it had requested the removal of the "false graphic" and that "it will be accepted only if that graphic is deleted".

In case anyone was wondering if the term "fake news" was going anywhere soon, it very much looks as if it's not. However, Trump has used it to describe mainstream media and sometimes also denounced true stories that contained information he does not seem to like or appear to go against him.

President Donald Trump has signed an executive order directing the Commerce Department and the US trade representative to conduct a study of USA trade agreements.

CNN tweeted that the network asked Trump's campaign to remove the "fake news" graphic before they would run it. Red text reading "FAKE NEWS" is stamped over the journalists' faces.

With President Donald Trump's first 100 days nearly behind him, it's time to revisit his tweets since becoming POTUS. But his re-election campaign committee (yes, he already has one) didn't get that memo. It added that the video highlights Mr. Trump's "clear vision, resolute leadership and an uncompromising dedication to the American people, just as he promised throughout his campaign". It also excludes the controversy surrounding Trump's executive order banning immigration from several Muslim-majority countries, which was blocked twice by federal judges. By attacking CNN with claims of "bias" and "censorship", the campaign is trying to preempt negative coverage of his administration - something that worked for Trump during the primaries and general election.
