Swanson, however, had an answer for most of his offense and the American defended well while firing in some vicious shots of his own.

In addition to the exciting main event scrap between Cub Swanson and Artem Lobov, #UFCNasville featured a slew of slick submissions of vicious knockouts, culminating in an all-around fun night of fights for fans.

"It makes you aware, and it makes you fight on a different level".

In one of the most incredible fights of a year ago, he overcame Doo Ho Choi at UFC 206 in a brutal, enthralling contest but told Sportsmail he recovered quickly and the body is finely-tuned once again.

But while Swanson did claim a unanimous decision with little difficulty, Lobov won over plenty of cynical fans by proving that he could at least compete with such a talent. After the first, Swanson connected on 60 percent or better of his total strikes in each of the four remaining rounds. Lobov's chin held up to that creative strike.

Lobov, who suffered a cut on his left eyelid that sent blood into his eye most of the fight, was never seriously hurt, but he didn't land almost enough to compete with Swanson.

Although Lobov didn't score the upset win, he did keep coming throughout the fight and took one of the planet's best featherweights to the judges' scorecards. Yahoo Sports scored it 50-45 for Swanson. After round one, Cub Swanson, and everybody watching the fight, realized that the 30-year-old SBG Ireland trained Lobov was going to be in his face the entire fight.

Lobov said he hoped to get into a slugfest, and most of the bout was spent standing with the two kicking and punching in the center of the cage.

Given that Swanson and Lobov are top of the bill in Nashville, their contest will be fought over five rounds. "It" all mental. So I've been able to conquer that and every fight has been a progression".

Lobov was disappointed despite going the distance with one of the sport's elite featherweights.

"I've lost to both those guys, so they both equally sting", Swanson said. I've studied him for a long time.

On the undercard, Al Iaquinta made a dramatic return, needing just 1:38 to knock out Diego Sanchez.

Mike Perry def. Jake Ellenberger via knockout (elbow). Ellenberger did a dead man's fall backward, and his head slammed hard off the mat when he landed. We trained for something.
