Isaiah Thomas to play Game 2, then fly to sister's funeral

Isaiah Thomas remained with the Boston Celtics on Monday, and coach Brad Stevens said he expects that the All-Star guard will play Tuesday in Game 2 against the Chicago Bulls before traveling to be with his family after the death of his sister.

The Celtics star guard lost his 22-year-old sister in a tragic vehicle accident on Saturday and then had to play less than 24 hours later.

"We're never going to make excuses, but this is hard", Horford said.

"I feel like it's better to show with your actions than your words, especially after a loss", he said. Although he was clearly devastated, sobbing on the bench before the game, Thomas had a longtime friend and teammate supporting him. Then, the day before Boston's playoff opener, Isaiah Thomas' sister was killed in a auto accident. To honor his sister, Thomas wrote "Chyna", "R.I.P. Lil Sis" and "I love you" on the sneakers he wore during the game.

Jimmy Butler nodded when asked if a win or even a similar performance to Game 1 can turn some heads, but even he hates the narrative about the Bulls making believers of a fan base and skeptical media. "As people say, the series starts when you take advantage of home court, and we did that tonight. We just made some mistakes that are fixable and we'll have a chance to do it", Bradley said, in anticipation of Game 2. "We knew their stuff just like they knew ours, but we executed extremely well". "Those have got to come on his own time, and then we'll adjust accordingly".

Butler, along with Bulls forward Bobby Portis, bullied the Celtics from the three-point line.

Westbrook had 22 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists, but made just six-of-23 shots and had nine turnovers.

Only five No.8 seeds in National Basketball Association history have upset set the No.1 seed in the first round of the postseason, but the Chicago Bulls have already taken one step towards joining the record books.

Game 3 is Thursday night in Milwaukee. The former Boston Celtics guard, who now plays for the Chicago Bulls, couldn't even touch the ball without the crowd letting him have it.

John Wall scored a playoff career-high 32 points and Markieff Morris added 21 in his National Basketball Association postseason debut to help Washington beat Atlanta 114-107.

He scored 15 points in the third quarter and finished with 14 assists ahead of game two in Washington on Wednesday.
