Hundreds of children up to age 7 took part in the event, which is organized by the Waynesboro Parks & Recreation Department.

The event is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. with the first Egg Drop.

Before the Lansing Lugnuts game against the Lake County Captains, the Lugnuts will be dropping Easter Eggs onto the outfield from a helicopter.

While most of the kids grabbed as many eggs as possible and then went on their merry way, several others used their egg-hunting methods to maximize their egg count. The big hunt for ages through 11 features inflatables, food, prizes and the Easter Bunny. "This is my sixth one".

Santiago Ortiz, 2, was having too much fun as his mom, Becky Ovalle, of Odessa, could attest. The Zoo is also open on Easter Monday.

"He went under the fence", Dean's aunt Dona Brown said with a laugh as the pint-sized boy held on to his bucket half-full of Easter eggs.
