Shadow Brokers first surfaced previous year offering for sale a suite of hacking tools from the NSA.

It's not known how numerous exploits, if any, are unknown to the manufacturer.

The release included computer code that could be adapted by criminals to break into Swift servers and monitor messaging activity, said Shane Shook, a cybersecurity consultant who has helped banks investigate breaches of their Swift systems.

If the leaked files which are claimed to be NSA's spy tools are real, the information will pose a serious threat to the SWIFT network.

They "suggest the NSA was targeting the SWIFT banking system of several banks around the world". According to this analysis by Matt Suiche, a researcher and cofounder of Cloud Volumes, Jeepflea_Market is the code name for a 2013 mission that accessed EastNets, the largest SWIFT service bureau in the Middle East. EastNets provides anti-money laundering oversight and related services for SWIFT transactions in the region.

Several of the files we've seen appear to be "top secret" in classification, such as JeepfleaMarket, which appears to utilize the Jeepflea program to collect data on servers at least nine worldwide banks.

Qatar First Investment Bank, Arab Petroleum Investments Corporation Bahrain, Dubai Gold and Commodities Exchange, Tadhamon International Islamic Bank, Noor Islamic Bank, Kuwait Petroleum Company and Qatar Telecom, are just a few of the financial institutions that were targeted by the NSA, according to the leaked files. Spreadsheets published by Shadow Brokers appeared to list banks that had been breached with "implants" - secret data-gathering software.

In a statement on Friday, EastNets strongly denied the claims.

EastNets is one of 74 local service bureaus worldwide certified by Swift, acting as an interface between the global network and smaller banks and financial institutions in the Middle East.

Through an official blog post released on Saturday, the Redmond giant has confirmed that it has already patched most of the exploits and it is completely safe to use all supported versions of Windows.

If you're running Microsoft's latest OS, Windows 10, you should be fine, but FUZZBUNCH has tools to infiltrate "server versions from NT, 2000, 2003, 2008 and up to 2012, as well as the consumer versions XP, Vista, 7 and Windows 8".

Friday's release-which came as much of the computing world was planning a long weekend to observe the Easter holiday-contains close to 300 megabytes of materials the leakers said were stolen from the NSA.

In January, a Twitter account believed to be run by the group announced an auction of the exploits, but it appears the group did not find any buyers.
