Tottenham crush Watford to close in on Chelsea

Tottenham Hotspur demolished a lacklustre Watford 4-0 with a polished display of attacking football in Saturday's Premier League clash at White Hart Lane.

Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham are current seven points behind league leaders Chelsea.

A flawless day for Spurs took another positive turn when Mauricio Pochettino gave the fit-again Kane 30 minutes of action at the end of the match, and the striker had the chance to mark his return with a goal 10 minutes after his introduction when he latched on to a pass from Trippier and rounded the keeper, only to see his tame finish cleared by the defence.

Their impressive Premier League form has seem them close the gap on leaders Chelsea to just four points after a run of six wins in a row.

This game was complete, of course, several hours before Chelsea kicked off at Bournemouth in the evening game.

Tottenham chalked up a sixth successive victory, Dele Alli scoring a superb goal - his 16th of the season in the league - and Eric Dier doubling the lead before Son's brace. Watford: Heurelho Gomes: 5, Daryl Janmaat: 6, Adrian Mariappa: 5, Craig Cathcart: 5, Jose Holebas: 5, M'Baye Niang: 7, Tom Cleverley: 7, Abdoulaye Doucore: 5, Nordin Amrabat: 5, Stefano Okaka: 5 Isaac Success: 6.

They battled for 30 minutes, leaving Spurs chasing shadows at times, and can point to three brilliant goals as their undoing. Son struck the post early on, and only a minute later Watfordgoalkeeper Hueurelho Gomes was called into action on his return to North London to deny Vincent Janssen from scoring his first Premier League goal from open play. The fans are great and get behind us.

"We're more strong with (Kane) healthy and ready to fight again for the team".

'Now it's up to them to win the league'. Watford have gone W1-D1-L7 in their nine most recent road games, failing to score in five of their last seven.

That goal broke the dam and the goals started to flow, with Dier doubling Spurs' lead on 39 minutes with a thumping hit after Watford were slow to clear a deflected effort from Son.

Spurs, who have now won their last six league games in a row, next face the Cherries at home next Saturday lunchtime. Son races onto Trippier's lovely pass into the right of the area, but sees his first-time shot come back off the bar.

For so long, Kane has been Tottenham's talisman and poster boy - the one player they can not do without - but they are unbeaten in eight league matches (five wins, three draws) without the England striker this season and they were 4-0 up before he came on.

Watford, who conceded four at home to Spurs, had only two shots on target.
