A police flyer describes her as 5 feet 4, about 150 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair.
Police are asking for help identifying this woman, who told police she was a mermaid after they found her wandering down a Fresno, California street early Tuesday (Fresno Police Dept.).
They did not, however, say whether or not the woman was accompanied by a plucky red crab with a Jamaican accent, leaving out what many would surely consider to be a crucial detail to the story. She told police she had been in the water, according to a statement released later that evening. She has claimed to be a mermaid and (that her name is) Joanna.
She was found in the middle of a road at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday.
Authorities estimated that the woman is between 16 and 30 year old. She has webbed toes on both feet.
Local resident Karon Renwick said, "There are some unusual things that happen up here".
Even after fingerprinting the woman and going through records, police have not been able to find out her identity. "We're in the mountains", resident Karen Renwick explained.
