Westbrook scores 57, leads Thunder to 114-106 win in OT

Westbrook not only hit a game-tying 3-pointer from the "R" in AMWAY CENTER on the parquet floor, but he scored 57 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and handed out 11 assists to spark OKC past Orlando 114-106 in overtime.

Westbrook finished his 38th triple-double with 57 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists.

Westbrook produced a devastating late burst of scoring with 19 points in the final six minutes of regulation time, draining a three-pointer with seven seconds left to send the game into overtime.

Evan Fournier scored 24 points and Terrence Ross had 23 for the Magic.

Josh Richardson contributed 17 as eighth-place Miami moved 1 1/2 games ahead of the ninth-place Chicago Bulls in the race for the last Eastern Conference playoff spot. From the 7:15 mark of the first quarter to the 5:05 mark of the third, Oklahoma City was outscored 70-41.

Triple-doubles are becoming common place for Russell Westbrook.

On Wednesday night, the Oklahoma City Thunder traveled to Orlando to take on the Magic. His 57 points are the highest points ever scored en route to a triple-double in all of National Basketball Association history.

Now that is an MVP-caliber performance. Just sit them down and make them watch the last two Oklahoma City Thunder basketball games.

With the Thunder trailing 101-97 with 20 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Westbrook quickly sprinted to the basket for a layup to bring the Thunder within two points with 16.9 left on the clock.

"Words can't really describe it", Oladipo said of watching Westbrook.

The latter is what the Orlando Magic are dealing with after they let an nearly sure victory slip through their fingers because of the irrepressible, unstoppable greatness of Oklahoma Thunder guard Russell Westbrook on Wednesday night at the Amway Center.

Reserve James Johnson added 18 points for the Heat, who began play eighth in the Eastern Conference and a game behind in for seventh as they continue a second-half surge that could carry them to the postseason. Noah will be allowed to practice and travel with the team, but can't be in the arena during games. "It's just an honour to play alongside him as he kinda etches his name in history", team-mate Victor Oladipo said afterwards as the Thunder improved to 43-31 on the season, just a half-game behind the LA Clippers for fifth in the West.

"I always say this about him, he never believes he is out of it or we're out of it", Thunder Coach Billy Donovan said of Westbrook after Wednesday's game. "So, yeah, any time he's at practice, it's going to be good for not only him but the other guys, too".

Currently, Westbrook is averaging 31.8 points, 10.6 rebounds and 10.4 assists per game.

Gordon Hayward returned to the lineup after a one-game absence to score 20 points for Utah, and Rodney Hood tallied 18.
