Donald Trump Jr criticises London mayor after terror attack

"I want to reassure all Londoners, and all our visitors, not to be alarmed", said Mayor Sadiq Khan, yesterday after the attack that left several people dead and dozens injured including tourists from France, China and the U.S.

The former member of the parliament was talking about the NY bombing, which left 29 people injured after several trash bins exploded. She said the attacker drove into a crowd of pedestrians, then ran towards Parliament, where he attacked an officer before being killed.

More details of the attack continue to emerge but police say they're treating the incident as an act of terrorism until they can prove otherwise. Trump Jr tweeted, quoting the headline: "Terror attacks are part of living in big city, says London Mayor Sadiq Khan".

Besides completely misunderstanding Khan's point, Don Jr.'s criticism of London's mayor was also widely viewed as insensitive and unseemly.

Donald Trump Jr. and his brother Eric are now trustees of The Trump Organization, running the company during their father's presidency. You've got to support the police; doing an incredibly hard job.

Trump Jr had earlier invited backlash for comparing Syrian refugees to poisoned Skittles in September 2016. 'It made me angry and sad and I wanted to come here and show that we can still all be here together'.

British Labour MP Wes Streeting called Trump a disgrace. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. This a time to express our gratitude to the heroism of our police officers and emergency services who ran towards danger to help, and at the same time they encouraged others to run for safety. "Terrorists hate the fact that whether it's NY, whether it's London, whether it's Paris, whether it's Brussels, Istanbul, whether it's Madrid - we have diverse communities living together peacefully getting on with each other, respecting each other". And those spreading lies and hate by vilifying London's Mayor for their religion will not succeed in their goal of dividing the capital and the country.
