Facebook Messenger launches clone to Snapchat Stories

Facebook Messenger launches clone to Snapchat Stories

They can share their photos and videos with one person, multiple people, or their entire friends list.

To use it, you simply open the Messenger app on your phone to take a picture. There will be some "Add to your Day" text under a photo or video. After you send a photo or video, you'll see the option to "add to your day".

The new feature is called Messenger Day, and if it sounds a lot like Snapchat, it's because it basically is Snapchat.

So how does this feature work?

The operation of Messenger Day is quite simple.

While the feature has gone live today, it has been a while since Facebook has been expected to roll it out on the Messenger.

Further, this Snapchat clone's filters are much easier to see and figure out, as it presents them as rows of labelled tiles that you swipe through. The update is available now as a part of Instagram 10.11 for both iOS and Android.

You can add to your Day feed explicitly from the main Messenger interface, or choose things from your group chats to include. Ads in Stories help businesses use targeting and reach capabilities that make ads personally relevant to the people they want to reach.

There are also more visual effects in Messenger Day than some of the competitors. First step of course would be to update your Messenger to the latest version. You can also jump into Messenger Day by tapping the new shutter button at the bottom of the screen. Your settings will apply to everything you post to that day, so if you've selected a limited audience but decide later you want to share something with everyone, you'll have to wait until the next day.

To add art and effects, tap the smiley face icon in the top right and then tap to add to your photo or video.

Add any text or draw on the picture.

"Since everything you add disappears after 24 hours, feel free to add as often as you want". If you choose to send your post to certain people instead of posting it to your Day, it will be sent directly to those people as a message. Snap, meanwhile, is still a relatively small app compared to any of Facebook's, which makes it extremely susceptible to Facebook's efforts to co-opt its most popular functionalities. With Messenger Day you cannot only share your images and videos with your friends but you can also view what they shared. They disappear after twenty-four hours, or you can delete them before then if you so choose.
