Despite announcing a Q1 release, today Red Barrels announced the game will launch on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on April 25, 2017, almost a month into Q2. I had never played the first two Outlast games, and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about.
Outlast 2 was originally scheduled for release in 2016, but was delayed by Red Barrels "to make sure our vision for Outlast 2 is in no way compromised and is the experience you deserve". That silence ended today, when they tweeted the picture above, along with the confirmation that the horror sequel would release on April 25, 2017 on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
Outlast 2 follows Blake Langermann, a cameraman, and his wife, who are hot on the trail of clues from a seemingly impossible murder.
The game will be available in physical and digital formats, though pricing has yet to be confirmed.
Red Barrels hasn't announced what else will be included in the Outlast Trinity. Outlast 2 will be priced at 29.99 Dollars digitally and Outlast Trinity will be available physically for 39.99 USD.
Red Barrels doesn't have any plans for Outlast 2 DLC right now, and when asked about PlayStation VR support, they replied, "If/when we approach VR we want to do so with a project that is built for the technology".
