Oscar-nominees hit DVD just ahead of Academy Awards

After the "Oscars so white" controversy, the Academy Awards have become more inclusive and diverse than ever. I believe Davis will take home the Oscar. Will Matt Damon's feud with host Jimmy Kimmel rear its ugly (and hilarious) head?

Netflix now offers 28 Oscar-winning movies and we ranked the Top 20.

Depending on the size of the studio, the companies behind the films shell out millions lobbying the voting members of the Academy, Variety reported ahead of the previous awards, citing "sources".

Several other films have come close to matching the record number of nominations, but only a couple - "From Here to Eternity" and "Gone With the Wind" - have won in at least half the categories in which they were nominated.

Christopher Plummer holds his Oscar for best actor in a supporting role for Beginners in the press room at the 84th Annual Academy Awards on February 26, 2012 We are family.I've got all my Oscars with me!

Best Actress. The varied performances by Ruth Negga ("Loving"), Meryl Streep ("Florence Foster Jenkins"), Isabelle Huppert ("Elle"), Emma Stone ("La La Land"), and Natalie Portman ("Jackie") make this a tough choice. It's also a technically impressive, lovely film that's about struggling artistry, which the Academy has repeatedly embraced (hence the recent Best Picture wins for "The Artist" and "Birdman"). Yet consensus is that Ali will win.

Best Director. Among directors Kenneth Lonergan ("Manchester by the Sea"), Mel Gibson ("Hacksaw Ridge"), Dennis Villeneuve ("Arrival"), Barry Jenkins ("Moonlight"), and Damien Chazelle ("La La Land"), it's a tight race between Chazelle and Jenkins.

Best Original Screenplay. Kenneth Lonergan for "Manchester by the Sea".

Every nominee for visual effects deserves the prize this year: Deepwater Horizon for its sinking oil rig; Kubo and the Two Strings for its remarkable stop-motion animation; Rogue One: A Star Wars Story for a different kind of universe; Doctor Strange for an astral plane that is stunningly real.

Can we please get Kevin O'Connell an Academy Award?

"La La Land", with its record-tying 14 Oscar nominations, could turn acceptance speeches at Sunday's Academy Awards into the same old song and dance. The answers are as varied as the movie nominations themselves.

Cabaret won eight Oscars, including - aside from Minelli's Best Actress - Best Director and Best Supporting Actor. This has been explained by team La La as the SAG nominating committee viewing the musical as a two-hander between SAG victor Emma Stone and nominee Ryan Gosling rather than a true ensemble film.

Best Actress: The most lackluster category out of the six discussed is absent of Rebecca Hall and her gripping performance in "Christine", the best by an actress in a lead role this past year. "Just do the best you can do".
