Taking to Instagram, Chance posted a screen shot of a series of texts that he received from Drizzy, who is now overseas on tour. Born Chancelor Johnathan Bennett, the 23-year-old rapper out of IL has reason to celebrate.
As such, it is now the first streaming-only album to win a Grammy Award, beating The Life of Pablo by Kanye West, Views by Drake, And The Anonymous Nobody by De La Soul, Blank Face by Schoolboy Q, and Major Key by DJ Khaled. From wining a Grammy with no album sales, to selling out amphitheaters with no record label backing, Chance the Rapper is one greatest success stories of our generation.
Chance the Rapper had quite the Sunday night.
The Chicago native, also known as Lil Chano off 79th, was nominated for seven Grammys and won three of them.
Until this year to be eligible for a Grammy, a recording had to be available for purchase either on traditional physical media or through downloads. It's a sign that the Grammy committee is willing to make changes to reflect the changing music landscape.
Chance's response was also truly on point, writing, "He is!" Glory be to God! "I want to thank God for putting awesome people in my life, like Pete and Pat, who have carried me since 2012", he said.

The 23-year-old from Chicago was awarded Best Rap Performance for his track "No Problem" and then took home the awards for Best New Artist and Best Rap Album. He crushed every live performance he had the opportunity to play and even had the honor of preforming for Barrack Obama at last year's White House Tree Lighting. Once, for "Best Rap Song", and another for "Best Rap Performance".
"I want to thank God for my mother and my father, who supported me since I was young; for Kirsten; for Kinsley; for all of Chicago", he said. S***, this is insane. Damn, I'm shaking, this is insane.
In the photo, Chance typed out in response, "Love you bro!" In addition to rocking skinny overalls and pastel-colored suits, Chance has become known for a signature accessory: baseball caps emblazoned with the number three.
